Generations of Swansboro’s families have made their living from the from the sea – shrimp, flounder, trout,  blue crabs, scallops & oysters – to name just a few.

But the waters around Swansboro are also a source of year-round enjoyment – summers can be spent water-skiing, sailing, canoeing & windsurfing. Nearby Bogue Inlet offers quick ocean access for deep sea fishing and off-shore scuba diving. And fall fishing is great when the spots & croakers are running at the White Oak  River Inlet!

     Many unique shops along the waterfront and surrounding downtown area, including Russel’s Olde Tyme Shoppe, and Through the Looking Glass. And if you need a place to stay, visit the Hampton Inn.

     Swansboro Elementary, Queens Creek Elementary, Swansboro Middle and Swansboro High schools are in town. About 20 minutes away in Jacksonville is Coastal Carolina Community College.

     Banking assistance is offered at branches of First Citizens Bank and Bank of America. Also in town, Marine Federal Credit Union and State Employees Credit Union.

     Food markets (Piggly Wiggly and Food Lion) and convenience stores are available, as well as fast food and fine restaurants including Yana’s Ye Olde Drugstore, Swansboro Food & Beverage, Riverside Steak & Seafood, The White Oak River Bistro and more.

     Hammocks Beach State Park is a 3 mile long undeveloped barrier island, accessable only by ferry or private boat. Recently added—approx 290 acres on the mainland.

   Just outside town on Highway 24, is the Swansboro Library

   With water all around us, there’s got to be a marina. Check out Casper’s Marina downtown. There’s also Nancy Lee Charters at the Nancy Lee Fishing Center between the bridges.  If  you can’t catch your own, you get your seafood fresh off the boat at Phillip’s Seafood between the bridges.

   Swansboro even has a great little place for computer repairs & purchases. It’s called The Geek & The Grammer Queen. They’re located in the shopping center on Hwy 24 & Hammocks Beach Rd, between Taco Bell and the Post Office.

Annual Festivals & Events in Swansboro! 

Arts-by-the-Sea & Story-telling Festival held on the 3rd Saturday in June along the waterfront

The Mullet Festival is celebrated on the 2nd Saturday in October with a full day of parades, arts & crafts, music, exhibitions, dancing, carnivals games, and lots to eat.

In November the Christmas Flotilla brings Santa into town via the Intracoastal Waterway.

In March, catch the Swansboro Rotary Oyster Roast

Memorial Day weekend it’s the King Mackerel/Blue Water Fishing Tournament

4th of July –  don’t miss the fireworks on the waterfront!
