Small Town Living by the Water

Cedar Point

White Oak River from Cedar Point, NC

Cedar Point’s roots go back to the 1700s. It was incorporated in 1988 with the philosophy of changing as slowly as possible. And very little has changed since then with the exception of the widening of Hwy 24.  Many of the families here made their living from fishing or farming, and you can still buy local produce & seafood at road-side stands.

Bordered by the White Oak River and Bogue Sound most of Cedar Point is either waterfront or just a short walk to the water.

Cedar Point is home to many businesses, most located on Hwy 24 (Cedar Point Blvd).

Schools are nearby White Oak Elementary in neighboring Cape Carteret,  Broad Creek Middle and Croatan High just a few miles east in Broad Creek. Cedar Point is also about mid-way between 2 excellent community colleges. About 20 minutes away in Jacksonville is Coastal Carolina Community College. Located in Morehead City, Carteret Community College also offers several classes at Western Carteret Library in neighboring Cape Carteret.

Western Carteret Medical Center offers treatment for minor emergencies, complete family care, including a variety of specialists operating part-time from their offices. We’re also near 2 hospitals, Onslow Memorial in Jacksonville and Carteret Health Care in Morehead City.

2 hotels in town, the Waterway Inn right on the Intracoastal Waterway and the Best Western Silver Creek Inn on Hwy 24, and for campers try Waterway RV Park on Bogue Sound.

A large nursery to help you find plants suitable for our area: Redfearn’s Nursery

Bogue Sound Watermelons and more are available at one of the Fruit & Vegetable stands on Hwy 24 or Hwy 58. Offered only in season of course.

Get your seafood fresh off the boat at Sammy’s road-side stand just before the Swansboro bridges, or try one of our restaurants. Bogue House offers BBQ as well as seafood,  and just outside town on Hwy 58 is T & W Oyster Bar.

Just north of Cedar Point off Hwy 58 is Croatan National Forest with Cedar Point Walking Trail, a boat launch and campground. Especially popular for hunters & fishermen.

Charter fishing boat in the Intracoastal Waterway

Going Fishing?  Cedar Point has a public boat ramp on the Intracoastal Waterway just off Hwy 24.  Don’t have a boat? There are also charter boats out of Dudley’s Marina. Dudley’s is a full service marina, offering dry stack storage, dockside fueling, ship’s store, repairs and more.

And just outside of town in Croatan National Forest, there’s also a boat ramp on Boat House Creek, which leads out to the White Oak River.
